Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were injured while local people in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and encountered problems to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has escalated assaults on energy facilities over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing sanctions," mentioned in a social media post.

He said that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen missiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to restore power.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and authorities were preparing for further attacks.
